Emerald Talisman is Live!

Emerald Talisman, the first book in the Silver Vision series, is now available on Amazon. There are paperback and ebook versions (also available in Kindle Unlimited).

I'm so excited to finally share this story with everyone. It will be followed by 6.5 more books. (Yes, there is a backstory novella thrown in there that will release only as an ebook.) I'm currently working hard on getting the final editing finished for book #2 (Hidden Princess), with a more-or-less planned release sometime this spring, hopefully April.

My very talented friend Makena has been working hard on covers, and part of the uncertanity is Makena's health. (I would tell her story, but she needs to write her own book about it. Seriously, talk about drama!) So I can't give hard dates for anything yet. (We are very much working on a day to day basis here.)

Let me answer a few common questions for this series.

Question #1: What is the genre/intended reader age?

Answer:  Um. Really, this question sucks for a lot of writers, for a lot of reasons. But here's my basic rundown. This is a young adult-ish fantasy, with a character who starts at age twelve and finishes at age eighteen. It's a historical fantasy in the sense that it's set in a fictional world with a technology stage about the same as the Victorian era British Empire. (Except there is no empire. Well, not where my characters live.) So there is magic (written as "magick" through the books) and magical creatures-- but also a boarding school and a bit of a steampunk feel as well. There is a romance as well, but it doesn't start right off the bat because the main character needs to grow up a bit first.

I have no idea what to call that mish-mash. So yeah, young adult fantasy aimed at anyone of whatever age who enjoys reading in the young adult category.

Question #2: What about an audiobook version?

Answer: Sorry, not going to happen. I know, I get it, for some people audiobooks are the only way you read. I understand, I'm married to one! But at this point in time there is no cost-effective way for me to do that. Maybe someday. (Right along with my own website, right?)

Question #3: Why on earth did you spell magic with a k?

Answer: This was a conscious decision early on because in my fantasy world there is a difference between "magic" and "magick." Magic is used for sleight-of-hand or something being special ("we had a magical night"). Magick is used to refer to the specific energy source used by enchanters or possessed by creatures.

Anyway, feel free to ask me any other questions and I'll try to answer them (without spoilers!)

Happy reading, everyone!
