April Antics
That title sounds like we have been having a riotous time this month. I'm not sure that's exactly the right description. For K & S it's meant a lot of state standardized testing, which is thankfully over. (K is done with any big testing for his high school career altogether, hallelujah!) K also went to prom with some buddies. (Not with a date.) I wasn't home when he left, and I asked for one of his siblings to take pictures. This is what I got:
Fancy, right? I about died with laughter. Not in the least like the carefully staged prom pics that many moms post on social media. So typical of K (and our family in general)!
What about the rest of us? For Terence, April included the stomach flu of death. He says he's never felt anything like it before. Fortunately, it seemed to hit only him. (Perhaps it was food poisoning?) M and B are working like normal and enjoying the new Switch 2 Tomodachi Life game. (It looks fascinating but I will not let myself get sucked in. I refuse! I have a book to finish writing!) As for me, I have been working on the deep clean of my kitchen as well as attempting to set up the audiobook for Emerald Talisman. The best "antics" this month came from J. He finished his two year service mission and also his third block of BYU Pathway Connect classes. He needs to find a job now, but while he's figuring that out, he is continuing to help at several food banks. It's great that he is so willing to serve!
What's up next?
May Madness, again.
Though honestly, it's not as crazy as it used to be. I guess that's what happens when your kids are no longer in school. There's a handful of end-of-year things coming up (including 8th grade promotion for S) but when it's only two kids instead of five, it's a lot more manageable. Part of that is my own lack of involvement. There really is a huge difference between what we did with the oldest two kids vs. the youngest two kids.
Possibly because I'm older and tireder? Although it helps that K is allergic to things like attending awards ceremonies and I don't force S to attend the end-of-quarter family nights, like I did with her older siblings (back then someone always had some kind of performance or special event). Thank goodness I didn't wait to start my family until I was forty. I'd be practically at the beginning of the school march rather than nearly the goal line.
Four years and one month until all my kids are done with high school. At least if everything goes to plan. Please let it go to plan!!!
