A Day in the Life -- K
I goofed up this one for sure. K's day was supposed to be July 16th, which was two weeks ago! I guess I've been rather distracted lately so it wasn't a huge surprise. Since I remembered today, I've decided to make his day yesterday (the 29th) instead. Still a random day, right?
Yesterday morning K's mommy woke him up at the bright hour of 6:00am. K didn't mind (though his mommy told him he could go back to bed). In fact, he couldn't understand why his brother refused to do the same thing. The best part was that Mommy was so busy trying to get his brother and sisters awake and dressed that she didn't make him get out of his jammies! K's favorite thing to wear right now is his "jammies"-- just a t-shirt of B's and a diaper. Hooray for purple or green t-shirts!
Eventually, his brother and sisters were ready for school and he got the fun of going outside to wait with them for their ride to school. He had lots of fun following J down the sidewalk and letting J chase him back to the house. It was too bad when this had to end and he had to watch M, J & B climb into a car without him. He was not happy when Mommy made him go back inside the house.
Mommy didn't want to play when the older kids were gone. In fact, she didn't want to do anything but sit in a chair. So K decided to help himself to breakfast, getting down a box of crackers. He managed to dump a bunch on the floor, but that was no problem. It was easier to eat them that way. Daddy discovered that Mommy was too tired to entertain him so he put on He-Man cartoons for K to watch. K liked this quite a bit and watched He-Man fight the evil Skeletor and the other monsters for a while.
The best part about being on his own the whole morning was being able to play with whatever toys he wanted without anyone stopping him! He even got to play with some of them in the toilet until Mommy tracked him down and made him stop. That was frustrating. Mommy just couldn't understand how the toilet made the perfect pool. Eventually Mommy even made him get out of his jammies and put some real clothes on. He was not too happy about that.
When the older kids got home from school, Daddy made macaroni and cheese for lunch. K was not happy about this and voiced his complaints but nobody listened. Then Daddy made him sit in his high chair, which was even worse. He was trapped, unable to get away from this food he didn't want to eat!! He started to scream in protest and so Daddy decided it was time to take a nap. At least Daddy took off his uncomfortable shorts and left him in a diaper and t-shirt again for the nap. K liked this so much better that he fell right asleep.
When naptime was over, Daddy had gone to work and Mommy was in the middle of teaching piano lessons. K enjoyed playing with Brody (little brother of the piano students) for awhile, and then when Mommy was done, he got to help her shuck corn on the cob! What fun! Corn on the cob is one of K's favorite things to eat. He ate several pieces for dinner while ignoring the nasty BBQ chicken Mommy had put on his plate.
Not eating dinner came back to haunt him later though. He got so hungry he raided the fridge and came back with a package of uncooked tortillas. Mommy was busy listening to a book on CD so she wasn't paying attention. K ate two or so uncooked tortillas and then entertained himself by tearing the rest of them into pieces and tossing them on the floor while he watched his sisters play Mario Kart.
At bedtime K was not tired at all. Mommy read him a story and put him in his crib, but he only waited a little while before climbing back out and playing with toys with J. Later Mommy came back and made him get in the crib again and though he didn't dare get out again, he still jumped around and played with toys in his crib. Finally, about 11pm, his energy finally ran out and K decided to lay down and go to sleep. What a nice day it had been!
