A Day in the Life -- K

All right, it's time to report on K's day!  (I think he's the last of the family this year.)

Well, K started off his Saturday by waking up to find that his mom and dad were gone, and M was in charge.  He was perfectly fine with this; he helped himself to some cereal and went to watch her play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  In fact, this was fascinating enough to watch that other than a few minutes of distraction by other things, this is what he stuck to all morning long.

Lunchtime rolled around fast.  (That happens when you sleep in late in the morning!)  Lunch was leftover spaghetti-- not K's favorite, but it could have been worse.  He made it through family scripture study without getting into trouble (it's hard to sit still that long!) and beat J back onto the computer.  He spent the next couple of hours alternating between playing games on the computer and watching J (who was playing a Lord of the Rings computer game next to him).

This kept K busy until about 3 pm when his mom kicked him off the computer.  It was time for them to leave soon, and he had to go and track down his shoes.  He wasn't exciting about having to leave because he wanted to stay and play video games, but when his mom let him know they were going to pick up his cousin Livvie, he decided it was OK.

In the van K fell asleep.  He got a good long nap because he slept right through picking up Livvie, driving to Walmart, Mom realizing that she had forgotten her purse, the drive back to the house, and then the trip back to Walmart.  It must have been exactly that right amount of sleep though because when his mom woke him up to go into the store, he was in a good mood.

Walmart was a short trip fortunately, and then the whole group headed out to go on a short hike.  The sun was starting to get low, and at first, K was worried.  He reminded his mom that it was starting to get dark, but she told him not to worry, the hike was only a short one.  K enjoyed it.  There were plenty of ravines to run down into ("rollercoasters") and plenty of opportunities to stop and play around in the dirt while waiting for his mom and J and M to catch up.  (B and Livvie were always ahead; he never quite caught up with them.)  On the way back down the trail he started to get bored and drag behind, and his mom had to remind him that he was trying to earn ice cream by being a good hiker.  That helped motivate him to keep up and follow the hiking rules (like staying on the trail).

After the hike, Mom took everyone to Sonic.  K was so excited.  He likes ice cream, but he much prefers to get slushies from Sonic.  He chose a Blue Raspberry Nerds slush.  Yum!  After a couple of more stops (for gas and water) they finally made it back home.  Mom made his day by making frozen pizza for dinner.  Could it get any better?  Then with his pizza in hand he spent the rest of the time watching episodes of the "Littlest Pet Shop" on Netflix.  At bedtime he was not ready to lay down and be quiet as soon as his mom wanted him too.  He was annoyed that Mom insisted on sitting in the hallway and shushing him constantly.  She was keeping him from building a town and playing on his bedroom floor.  Eventually, he gave up and fell asleep, his busy day over at last.
