A Day in the Life -- M
It's time to report on M's day!
Well, M's day started very late. She had stayed up quite late the night before and she only dragged herself out of bed when it was getting near lunchtime. It was Columbus Day and she was still on fall break so she didn't need to go to school. She was supposed to be working on her chores but instead spent what was left of the morning working on crafts in her room or playing with her sister. There was no motivation to get anything done, since she had lost the privilege of playing video games or watching Netflix for a week (for a late night incident that wasn't her fault, in her opinion, no matter what her mother said).
Lunch was macaroni and tuna, which was just fine in M's book. Tuna's not her favorite thing, but she still likes the dish. (Nearly anything involving macaroni and cheese is sure to taste good.)
Messing around time ended quickly though when Daddy returned from the gym. M didn't want to get into trouble with her dad so she actually got the dishes done like she was supposed to. Then Mom made the unexpected announcement that the whole family would be going for a hike. M groaned at this but resigned herself to it. The good thing was that she was almost certain to get ice cream afterwards. But it was not to be. At the park where Mom had chosen to hike, the office was closed and they couldn't renew their park pass. Instead, her parents decided to go grocery shopping. M perked up at this change of plans. She had earned some money from babysitting and was eager to spend some of it before going back to school. (She was only allowed to spend her money on school breaks, and this one was nearly over!)
In Walmart M was given the job of pushing S in a cart. She made the best out of her assignment, entertaining S, and occasionally doing staring contests with K (which of course she won every time!). After checking out the Pokemon options, she found they were out her budget, so in the end she settled for spending some of her money to buy a donut, a pack of gum, and some candy.
At home she was asked to unload the groceries with all the other kids, which she did NOT want to do. After all, Mom wasn't doing it...she was trying to quickly throw some dinner together. M came up with several things that she just had to do, keeping her from unloading the van. Eventually Mom and Dad caught on and she got busted, but it wasn't a total loss because she got away with bringing in only one bag before the chore was finished. A win!
Dinner was chicken chunks and homemade potato wedges. Yum! M loves potatoes, and chicken isn't too far down her list either. Then the family gather for FHE and scripture reading. It was short and sweet since Mom and Dad were exhausted, and M got a chocolate fudge drumstick for the treat, just like she wanted. It was great!
After that though, Mom and Dad banished her to her room with B and S. They said it was time for bed-- and they were going to have a home-date and watch a movie. Well, first of all, M wasn't tired. Second, how could anyone sleep with a grumpy baby sister and a fellow night owl in the same room? M didn't even bother to try. She turned the light on, kept the door shut so her parents didn't know, and had a grand old time playing with B all through the movie. However, after midnight when the movie was older, the gig was up. Mom discovered the girls' little slumber party playtime and went ballistic.
After that she had no choice but to lay down in the dark and try to go sleep. Eventually it worked, and M's Monday was over at last.
