A Day in the Life -- M
I'm a couple of days late with this, mostly because I had the production of putting on a birthday party this weekend. Now that we have survived the party (phew!) maybe I can catch up with my blogging!
M's day was Thursday, June 16th. (Hey, I'm only a day or so behind!) So she and I had a little brainstorm session and this is what her day went like:
Since it's summer, M got to sleep in. She woke up probably around 8am or so. Always anxious to beat her brother to playing video games first, she hurried and got all her chores done right away. Not long after that she headed off to Walmart with her sister and youngest brother to do some grocery/birthday shopping. It wasn't too hard to find the perfect present for J, in M's opinion-- mystery flavor gum! She also enjoyed pushing her own grocery cart and helping choose the different things we would need for the party. M was the one to track down a Spider-man piƱata, perfect for J.
After lunch she spent most of the afternoon playing the GameCube. This was fairly entertaining until shortly after her mom finished teaching piano. Then disaster struck! While playing Mario Kart with J, she lost her temper and kicked her brother in the mouth. (Um, don't ask me how she managed that.) Anyway, that resulted in M having to go to her room and losing her game-playing privileges until Sunday. She was so furious at her unfair mother that she climbed into bed and hid her face in her covers until her mom came to remind her that it was time to leave again.
Grudgingly she got out of bed and went with her mom to Activity Days. The activity included a lesson on journals, and she got to make her own pretty journal jar full of ideas to write about. She enjoyed her time with the other girls, and by the time she got home, her bad mood was completely forgotten. Things went smoothly until bedtime, when things got rough again. M prefers to read in bed (for as long as an hour or so) until she gets sleepy, but this night K was screaming bloody murder. Shutting the door to her room helped a little bit, and she thought she would be able to keep reading, but then B woke up from a nightmare and went into a crying fit. This was the last straw for M. She asked for, and received, permission to move out to the loveseat in the living room (where J had already moved to escape the screaming baby). On the couch she read through a stack of books until she finally drifted off to sleep. Over an hour later, when all was quiet on the younger sibling front, her mom finally woke her up and had her move back to her bed, where she quickly went back to sleep for a nice, restful night.
