A Day in the Life -- J

It's J's turn!

Yesterday J had a pretty good day.  Well, he wasn't happy when it started off.  It's spring break and his annoying mom came in and woke him up way too early.  What, after all, did he need to get up for if there was no school?  She was insistent though, so eventually he dragged himself out of bed and started to race through his chores so he could claim first pick out of the computers or the videos games.  He didn't beat K or M but luckily he was still able to get a computer before B.  Unfortunately, he didn't get to play very long before it was time to go.

The first stop of the morning was the library.  The good thing about the library is that it also has computer games!  So after hurriedly choosing one book and checking it out, J hurried over to claim one of the two kids' computers.  These games are too easy (since they're for preschoolers) but it's better than not playing a game at all.

After the library there was going to be quite a long stretch in the car before the next stop.  It was a perfect time to read his book so that his reading time was out of his way (so when he got home he would be able to go right back to playing video games).  At last the family arrived at Chick-Fil-A.  J hadn't eaten at Chick-Fil-A before, so at first he tried to convince his mom that they really should eat at McDonald's instead "since it's for kids."  But Mom wouldn't be budged.  He was pleasantly surprised to find that there was a playground and he enjoyed his chicken nuggets as well.  (He even finally got Mom to let him eat K's chicken nuggets since K wasn't having any of it.  His loss!)  Mom was talking, talking, talking to some other moms though, and even the fun of the playground wore off.  He entertained himself by watching another little boy playing a game on a phone and tried a couple times to get Mom to buy ice cream with no success.

The last stop of the afternoon was to Walmart.  This was exciting because after weeks and weeks of asking, Mom finally let J and his brother and sisters choose their Easter baskets.  J just can't wait for Easter and this was an exciting reminder that it is almost here!

At home he intended to settle in for a long, pleasant afternoon of video game playing, but this time he was not so lucky enough to get to play what he wanted.  So when his friend Justin came over he was willing enough to go play outside.  He rode his bike and hung out down at a neighbor's house until it was dark and Mom called for him to go in.  Then after he was ready for bed, he got to play on the computer for a little while longer until at last it was time to go to bed.  It was a nearly perfect day!
